A LITTLE CLARITY

Privacy policy

Your reading is personal. Here’s what stays with you, what our services process, and the choices you have.

Effective and last updated · asteriskai inc

No account is required. Saved verses stay on your device. Usage analytics are off by default. Ads, purchases, and essential online services have separate data practices, explained below.

Who we are and what this covers

asteriskai inc (“we”, “us”, or “our”) provides Versomi. This policy explains how information is handled in the Versomi iOS app and on this website. We are responsible for personal information we process to provide these services.

For privacy questions and requests, email support@asteriskai.net. Versomi does not require an account. That does not mean the app has no data processing: the services described below may receive information when they are enabled or used.

What stays on your device

Included Scripture is bundled with the app. Reading, reference and word searches, and saved verses work on your device. Local preferences include your saved edition and verse references, Bible edition, appearance, font, text size, onboarding status, analytics choice, and reminder settings.

We do not maintain a cloud copy of your saved verses, a reading history, a streak, a daily reading total, or a saved feed position. Your operating system’s backup service may include local app data under your device settings and its own privacy terms. Recovery after deleting or reinstalling the app is not guaranteed.

Optional reminders are scheduled locally after notification permission. We do not operate a push-notification server for them. When you use Share, your device sends the content you choose to the app or recipient you select, whose privacy practices then apply.

Optional usage analytics

Usage analytics are off by default. If you enable “Share usage analytics” in Settings, we use Twilio Segment to send limited product events to Mixpanel. These help us understand feature use, fix problems, and improve the app.

Events describe actions such as opening the app, using search, saving or sharing, changing appearance, and purchase, restore, or ad outcomes. They may include an anonymous app identifier, event time, app and operating-system details, device context, and ordinary network metadata. “Anonymous identifier” means an identifier without your name; these events are not necessarily anonymous personal data. When available, the identifier is shared with the subscription service.

Our app’s analytics events do not include Scripture text or verse references, search terms, selected topics or Bible editions, saved lists or counts, reminder times, reading duration, or a per-verse reading history.

Switch analytics off at any time in Settings to stop future event capture and clear queued events on the device. Earlier events are not replayed if you later opt in. Turning analytics off does not automatically erase information already delivered; contact us to request deletion.

Ads and advertising choices

The free app can show Google AdMob advertisements. We request non-personalized ads and use Google’s User Messaging Platform for applicable consent and privacy choices. We do not send Scripture, selected topics, search terms, or saved verses to target ads. The iOS app does not request access to Apple’s advertising identifier (IDFA).

Non-personalized ads still involve data processing. Google’s advertising and consent services may process IP addresses and approximate location derived from them, app or device identifiers permitted by your settings, ad views and interactions, consent choices, and diagnostic or performance information. This supports ad delivery, frequency controls, fraud prevention, and measurement. Ads are requested only after the app’s configuration and consent checks allow them.

Use “Advertising privacy choices” in Settings when available to review or change your choices. Availability and the choices shown depend on your region and Google’s consent requirements. Usage analytics and advertising choices are separate. Plus removes in-app advertisements while your subscription is active.

See Google’s privacy policy and Google’s Mobile Ads data disclosure.

Subscriptions and purchases

If subscription services are configured, RevenueCat and Apple process information needed to provide available plans, validate purchases, restore purchases, manage entitlement to Plus, and help prevent fraud. This can include an anonymous app user ID, product and transaction identifiers, receipt or purchase history, subscription status, app and device metadata, and your analytics-consent setting. The purchase service can initialize before you buy.

Apple handles payment through your App Store account. We do not receive your full payment-card details. Subscription processing is separate from optional product analytics and may be necessary to deliver or restore your purchase. Billing records can remain after you uninstall the app.

See RevenueCat’s privacy policy and Apple’s privacy policy.

Configuration, website, and support

App configuration. The app may fetch global ad-spacing settings from Mixpanel on launch or return to the foreground, generally once per calendar day. This request uses a shared configuration identifier, not your individual reading activity or install identifier. Mixpanel still receives ordinary connection information, including your IP address. This operational request is separate from optional analytics and can occur when analytics are off.

This website. The website has no advertising pixels, optional analytics, account form, or marketing cookies. The reading preview keeps its theme and saves only in page memory. They reset when the page is reloaded or left. Vercel hosts this website. Vercel and network providers may process IP addresses, requested URLs, browser information, timestamps, and technical logs to deliver and secure the site.

Support. If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any information or attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond, investigate issues, and handle requests. Please do not send payment-card details or sensitive information that is not needed for your request.

Why we process and share information

We process information to deliver the app and website, manage purchases, answer support requests, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, and, with your choice where required, operate analytics and advertising.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on consent for optional analytics and consent-based advertising processing; performance of our agreement to provide requested services and purchases; legal obligations for required records; and legitimate interests in proportionate security, essential service configuration, and responding to inquiries. You may withdraw consent without affecting processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

We use Apple, RevenueCat, Google AdMob and UMP, Twilio Segment, Mixpanel, and hosting and email providers for the functions described here. We require service providers processing information on our behalf to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable requirements, use it only for agreed purposes, and apply appropriate safeguards. Providers may also act independently for their own services under their privacy terms.

We may disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and security, or as part of a business transfer subject to applicable protections and notice requirements. We do not sell your saved verses, search terms, or reading selections. Advertising-related processing may have a broader meaning under local privacy laws; use the applicable advertising controls or contact us about your rights.

Provider policies: Twilio / Segment and Mixpanel.

Retention and deletion

Local data: saved verses remain until you remove them, choose “Clear saved verses” in Settings, or remove the app’s data. Device backups are managed separately in your operating-system settings. Removing the app does not cancel a subscription.

Service data: we retain support messages, service logs, and optional analytics only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose described above. The period depends on resolving the issue, maintaining security, the provider’s retention settings, and applicable legal requirements. Purchase records may need to remain for entitlement restoration, accounting, fraud prevention, or legal obligations. We then delete or de-identify information where feasible, subject to backup cycles and required retention.

You can request access or deletion by emailing us. We may need limited information to verify your request and locate a record, especially because there is no named Versomi account. We will explain if we cannot identify a record or must retain certain information. We cannot remotely access or erase saved verses stored only on your device. Apple separately controls its own store and payment records.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent; opt out of certain advertising uses; and complain to your local privacy regulator. These rights may be subject to lawful exceptions. We will respond within the time required by applicable law and will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

To make a request, contact support@asteriskai.net with “Versomi privacy request” in the subject. An authorized agent may contact us where permitted by law, subject to appropriate authorization and verification.

You can also disable analytics, adjust advertising privacy choices where available, turn off reminders, revoke notification permission in iOS Settings, clear saved verses, or manage your device backups. These choices do not require a Plus subscription.

International processing and security

Our providers may process information outside your province, state, or country, including in the United States. Privacy protections and lawful government-access rules can differ. Where required, we use appropriate contractual or other legally recognized safeguards for international transfers. Contact us for information about safeguards applicable to your data.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including encrypted connections for network services. No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure. Keep your device and backups protected.

Children and policy updates

Versomi is a general-audience service and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the age at which parental consent is required by applicable law without that consent. If you believe a child has provided personal information improperly, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where required.

We may update this policy as services or requirements change. The current policy and its effective date will appear here. We will provide additional notice or request new consent when a material change requires it.

We’re here to help.
